A Gennaio ho ricevuto un singolare invito: partecipare alla "Red Bull Race Down to the middle of the earth", in poche parole...ad una gara all'interno di una miniera ... la cosa mi ha incuriosito ... e adesso sono qui a raccontarla. Per questa avventura si parte, con il mio nuovo camper, io Roberta e Silvio. Il programma prevede, per venerdi', la ricognizione del percorso a piedi...
En
janvier j’ai reçu une invitation très particulière: la
participation à la “Red Bull Race Down to the middle of the earth” en
deux mots: une compet dans une mine, ce truc m’a interessé et
maintenant je suis ici à vous le raconter. Pour
cette aventure on part, avec mon nouveau camping-car, moi, Roberta et
Silvio. Le
programme prévoit pour vendredi, la reconnaissance du parcours à pied
…
In January I received particular invitation: the inviting for the “Red Bull Race Down to the middle of the earth”. What's that? A dual competition in a mine! This interested me, so now I can tell you the story. For
this adventure we left home with my new camping-car, me Roberta and
Silvio. The program for friday is: take a look at the track by foot. |

... e cosi' ecco giunto il fatidico momento di scendere in miniera a 700 m sottoterra!! ... naturalmente tutti muniti di caschetto da minatore e lampada. Per raggiungere la galleria dove si svolge la gara si percorre un tragitto di circa venti minuti su camioncini. ... sarà che gli autisti conoscono a memoria la strada ... resta il fatto che vanno a tavola riuscendo a districarsi perfettamente ... (meno male) ... in mezzo al labirinto di cunicoli. In questa miniera ci sono ben 250 km di gallerie! Ed eccoci finalmente sul percorso della Race Down, peccato che gli ultimi 200 m della gara siano in salita ... e poi qui fa decisamente caldo, ci sono 30°C ... |

la descente dans la mine jusqu’à 700 mètres en dessous du niveau du
terrain, naturellement tout le monde avec casque et lampe de mineur.
Pour rejoindre le tunnel où se déroule la competition, il faut parcourir un trajet de vingt minutes avec des petits vans; peut être les chaffeurs connaissent par cœur la route vu qu'ils speedent vraiment comme des fous, dans ce labyrinthe de 250 km!
Et
nous voilà finalement sur ce parcours de la Race Down, dommage que les
derniers 200 m de la compet soyent en montée … et ici il fait vraiment
chaud, il y a 30°C.
So we arrive at the most exciting moment, the run down to the tunnels at 700 metres under the level of the ground, obviously with everyone dressed up with miner helmet and light!
To join the tunnel of the race we are carried with pick-ups for 20 minutes. The drivers might know the tunnels very well, but they go so fast, in a 250 km long labyrinth!
Finally we arrive on the "Race down" track, it's a pity that the last 200 m of course are uphill ... and it is very hot down there, something like 30°C ...

... a dimenticavo ... si prova due per volta perche' la gara e' un dual ad eliminazione diretta.

Durante gli ottavi di finale, con Carrik Anderson, riesco a partire in testa ma, al primo salto, l'avversario mi atterra sulla ruota posteriore mandandomi rovinosamente all'aria. Bilancio: gran botta con escoriazione ed una preziosa lampada del mio mega-sistema di illuminazione in meno! |
on commence la course Pendant les huitième de finale, avec Carrik Anderson, j’arrive à partir en tête, mais au premier saut, mon adversaire atterit sur ma roue arrière en me faisant cadeau d’une grosse boîte. Bilan:
boîte avec excoriation et une lampe du système d’éclairage en moins. |
The race starts! During the 1/8 finals, racing with Carrick Andersn, I've got the lead out of the gate, but on the first jump, he lands on my rear wheel making me taste some dirt and breaking one of my lights. |
